Was Your Car Flooded?

Due to the recent flooding in our Louisiana area, many Houma car owners have had their vehicles flooded. We hope your property hasn’t been harmed, but if it has, now may be a great time to consider a new Honda. Below we’ve compiled a list of 4 steps you should take if your vehicle has been flooded.

1.) Do NOT attempt to start your vehicle! Some engines are equipped with emergency water-resistant features, however, you should never attempt to crank your vehicle after it’s been flooded before having a professional inspect it.

2.) Consider checking your oil dipstick for water droplets. If you see water, it's entered the engine compartment and changing the oil is the best course of action.

3.) Call your insurance company to begin your claims process. The sooner you call, the better, as many other claimants will be filing reports at the same time as you. This will minimize your wait time.

4.) Don’t tow your vehicle straight to a dealership. While we normally love the opportunity to purchase pre-owned vehicles, it’s best to contact your insurance provider first. They will direct you with the appropriate steps to take to ensure that you’re fully covered.

5.) Once you’ve filed your claim with your insurance company, gather any documents you have available. Next, give us a call! We have a great selection of quality new and used vehicles on our lot.
